Short answer. Type the first letters and the tool lists every word in the list that begins with them. You can also set a length.
When this helps
Use it for word games, for writing and for school work such as an alphabet list or a spelling lesson. A short start gives a long list, so add a length range to cut it down.
The words are grouped by length. The shortest are at the top.
The words come from the ENABLE list, a public-domain word list used in many word games. Other dictionaries differ a little, so a game may accept or reject a few words that this list does not.
Worked example
Example. The start qu gives 805 words. Only 50 of them have 5 letters.
Questions
Can I search more than one letter?
Yes. Type as many starting letters as you like. More letters mean a shorter list.
Can I also set the ending?
Use the word finder for that. It has boxes for the start, the end and the pattern at the same time.
Are names and places included?
No. The list holds ordinary dictionary words only.
