Short answer. Weighted grade = the sum of (score x weight) for each part, divided by the total weight. If the weights add up to 100%, the sum is your grade.
How a weighted grade works
In many courses, parts of the grade count different amounts. A final exam may be worth 35% and homework 20%.
Multiply each score by its weight, add the results, and divide by the total weight. If your weights add up to less than 100%, the answer shows your grade for the work done so far.
Worked example
Example. Homework 92% (weight 20), Quizzes 85% (20), Midterm 78% (25), Final 88% (35).
18.4 + 17 + 19.5 + 30.8 = 85.7%.
Questions
My weights do not add up to 100. Is that a problem?
Not for this calculator. It shows your grade for the weights you enter. Your syllabus will say if some parts are still to come.
Where do I find the weights?
On your syllabus or in your online class page. If they are missing, ask your teacher.
Can I use points instead of percentages?
Convert each score to a percentage first. For plain points, use the grade calculator.
